Here is the programme for this year’s Vendimia grape harvest festival.

Saturday, 2nd September

7.30 pm –  Holy Mass in honour of Nuestra Senora de los Dolores sung by Manilva School of Music Choir in the Santa Ana church, after which the Virgen will carried in procession through the streets on Manilva, accompanied by the Manilva Town Band, to Calle Mar where she will receive an offering of grapes.

This will be followed by the competition for the heaviest bunch of grapes.

10 pm – Music and dancing in Calle Mar to the groups ‘Latidos’ and ‘Rompeolas’, whilst in the Plaza de la Vendimia the entertainment will be provided by DJ Turbo.

Sunday, 3rd September

This is the main event, the ‘Domingo Rociero’ where the whole town turns out to celebrate this year’s grape harvest.

1 pm –  Inauguration of the day fair in Calle Mar.

1.30 pm – Horse Parade along Calle Mar by the Peña Caballista riding association.

2 pm – Music and dancing to the bands ‘Latidos’ and ‘Compas Flamenco’, who will play throughout the day.

4 pm – Music in Plaza de la Vendimia from DJs Ocaña and Turbo.

7 pm – The ceremonial first treading of the grapes in Plaza de la Vendimia.

9.30 pm – To round of the day’s festivities there will be a performance by the band ‘Rockopop’ playing the greatest hits of the 80s and 90s.
