With the sun shining and temperatures in the low 20s, over 60 swimmers braved a chilly Mediterranean for the annual Saint George Charity Boxing Day Swim, in Sabinillas, Manilva.
Cheered on by onlookers the hardy souls, many of them in festive costumes, plunged into the sea
to raise funds for the Charity’s ‘Feed a Child’ campaign.
In what has become a traditional part of the festive celebrations in Manilva, this was the eighth edition of the Boxing Day Swim, with this year’s turnout a record number, helped no doubt by the weather, and a bacon sandwich at O’Callaghans.
On the same day, Boxing Day Swims were being held in Sotogrande, from Bunker Beach, and off Estepona’s Playa del Cristo beach. A big thank you to Jojo France and Ashleigh McCartney respectively for organising them.
The three events raised almost 1,100 euros between them, and the charity would like to thank the organisers, all the hardy swimmers, and everyone who turned out to cheer them on.
