Mayor José Manuel Fernández and Councillor for Infrastructure and Works, Agustín Vargas, visited Vicente Espinel Square in Sabinillas to observe the exploratory survey drilling for a potential underground car park.

The current government outlined the importance of addressing the municipality’s critical car parking issues in its election manifesto, with a number of proposals for underground car parks identified.

Currently, drilling is reaching depths of up to 12 metres in the square, extending towards Calle Duquesa de Arcos. The project will then move to Plaza Ginebra, where drilling will reach up to 18 metres deep. Subsequent drilling will take place in the La Colonia area and the Green Corridor connecting Puerto de la Duquesa with El Castillo.

The goal of constructing these parking facilities is to reorganise urban areas, enhance town planning, and prepare Manilva for the future.
