Saint Nicholas visits Estepona Port

The Christmas spirit will once again fill the waterfront. On Saturday 6th December, Saint Nicholas of Bari will reach Estepona Marina by boat, where he will be welcomed on the esplanade next to the boatyard and the Control Tower. From 12 noon, families and children can greet him with the joyful noise of their tin-dragging rattles — one of the most anticipated traditions in the days leading up to Christmas.

Organised by the Hermandad Nuestra Señora del Carmen Coronada de Estepona, with the support of Marinas del Mediterráneo, this event has become a firm favourite among local children, who look forward to Saint Nicholas’ arrival with great excitement.

After docking at the marina, Saint Nicholas will head to the Chapel of Nuestra Señora del Carmen (the former Carmen Chapel on Calle San Roque), where from 12:30 he will collect children’s eagerly prepared letters.

Tin-Dragging Competition

As part of the celebration, the Hermandad is once again hosting its traditional Tin-Dragging Competition, which encourages creativity and the use of recycled materials. Entries must be handmade sculptures created entirely from tin cans. Any pieces showing signs of mechanical or machine-assisted production will not be accepted.

Registration is available at the Casa Hermandad (former Carmen Chapel) or by calling 682 637 679.

Marinas del Mediterráneo invites all families to come to Estepona Marina for a festive morning by the sea and enjoy this much-loved visit from Saint Nicholas.
