Nurturing local talent is at the heart of the Duquesa Charitable Society of St. George’s mission, and the Charity has been proud to provide support in the past to rising basketball star Violeta Rojas Narváez.
We first crossed paths with Violeta in 2020, when she made the move from Manilva Basket Base to CAB Estepona, a club recognised for its strong women’s team. From there, she signed with CB Lloret in Catalonia, an experience she described as a major turning point, both for the high level of competition and the support she received.
She later joined Adeba de Córdoba for the 2022–23 season before taking a major step by accepting a sporting scholarship to State Fair Community College in Missouri, USA. Her performance there impressed on and off the court.
After a standout year, Violeta was awarded a full scholarship to Trinidad State College in Colorado, where she continued to excel. Her efforts have now earned her a full athletic scholarship to Ball State University—a prestigious NCAA Division I college in Muncie, Indiana—where she will also pursue a double major in International Business and Business Administration with French.
Violeta was back in Manilva visiting family and friends before returning to the US this month to keep progressing in her education and sporting goals.
