Preparations are getting under way for the Fiestas in honour of the Virgen del Carmen in Sabinillas, beginning with the traditional selection of the Queens and Ladies of the festival.
The event will take place on Saturday, 27th June, from 10 pm, in the Barriada de los Pescadores, at Plaza Costa del Sol. It is organised by the Hermandad Virgen del Carmen de Sabinillas.
The evening will begin with a flamenco fashion show, featuring the collaboration of Pepi Alonso, before the main event of the night.
This will be followed by the election of the Queens and Ladies of the Virgen del Carmen festivities in Sabinillas 2026. The young women chosen will represent the festival during the celebrations.
The tradition is an established part of the build-up to the Virgen del Carmen festivities and highlights the involvement of younger members of the community in one of Sabinillas’ most familiar annual celebrations. The Virgen del Carmen has a particularly strong connection with coastal communities and those who live and work by the sea.
The evening will continue with live music and entertainment. From 11.30 pm, the group Mala Hora will perform, followed by a set from DJ Pájaro.
Residents and visitors are invited to attend an evening of tradition, community and music, marking the start of the festive atmosphere ahead of the celebrations in honour of the Virgen del Carmen.
