Casares will once again celebrate one of its most traditional and emotional annual events later this month with the Romería in honour of the Virgen del Rosario del Campo, taking place from 29 to 31 May 2026.
Deeply rooted in local history and devotion, the romería brings together residents, pilgrims, horse riders and visitors for a weekend of faith, music and togetherness centred around the patron saint of Casares. The celebration sees the Virgin carried in procession from the town to her hermitage, accompanied by thousands of romeros, singing, church bells and traditional Andalusian atmosphere.
The romería has long been one of the most important dates in the Casares calendar, combining religious tradition with the social spirit typical of Andalucía’s countryside pilgrimages. Throughout the weekend there will also be live music performances, floral offerings and gatherings at the hermitage.

Friday 29 May
22:00 – Rosario de Ilusiones at the Chapel of the Virgin
An evening of emotion and devotion with poems, readings, prayers and performances by the Hermandad’s Coro Romero.
Saturday 30 May
11:00 – Opening of the chapel doors
Visitors can pay respects to the Virgin at the altar.
12:00 – Ángelus prayer
16:00 – Procession departs for the hermitage
The Virgen del Rosario leaves Casares accompanied by pilgrims, horse riders, church bells, rockets and the Hermandad choir on the traditional route towards the ermita.

00:00 – The Coro de la Hermandad sings the Salve
Live performances by “Compás Flamenco” and “Cat Forever” will also take place from Saturday night and again on Sunday lunchtime.
Sunday 31 May
12:30 – Holy Mass at the hermitage
Celebrated by parish priest José Antonio Mélgar and accompanied by the Hermandad choir.
17:00 – Holy Rosary at the hermitage
Followed by the return procession of the Virgen del Rosario del Campo back to Casares alongside the horse riders and romeros.
Organisers have also reminded participants that all horses and vehicles joining the procession must comply with the romería safety regulations and insurance requirements.
