A dramatic rescue took place in the early hours of Friday morning after a paddle-surfer went missing off the coast of Manilva. The alert was raised at around 10 pm on Thursday, 10 July, after the man failed to return to shore.
Salvamento Marítimo launched a search operation involving the Helimer 220 rescue helicopter and the Salvamar Gadir patrol vessel. After more than three hours in the water, the man was finally located at 1:40 am, approximately three nautical miles southeast of Puerto de la Duquesa.
Clinging to his board, he was brought safely to shore and is reported to be in good health. Authorities have reminded beachgoers to take extra precautions when engaging in water sports, particularly at dusk.
