The official acts of Casares’ Semana Santa begin on Friday of Sorrows with a mass at the convent at 5 pm.
On Palm Sunday at 11 am, palms and olive branches will be blessed in the chapel to be carried in procession to the convent where mass will be celebrated.
On Holy Wednesday, we have one of the most moving processions of Casares, the Stations of the Cross of the Christ of the Good Death, which starts at 9 pm from the Chapel of San Sebastián to make its way in silence through the town: Calle Villa, the Castle precinct, and Calle Arrabal.
On Holy Thursday, the Holy Services are celebrated at 6 pm in the convent.
On Good Friday, after the mass at 8 pm, the Virgin of Sorrows and the Holy Sepulchre are paraded in procession with the accompaniment of the band of GaucÃn.
On Easter Sunday at noon, one of the most joyful and emotional events of Casares’ Holy Week takes place, the procession of the Risen Jesus and the Virgin of Sorrows, with the meeting of the two images in Plaza de España.
