The Mayor of Manilva, José Manuel Fernández, met with Local Police officers to discuss security in the municipality. With public security being one of his areas of responsibility and a priority, the Mayor was keen to thank them for their efforts, particularly on a very busy Noche de San Juan.
During the meeting he discussed a number of important points, including an increase in foot patrols; the bringing in of officers from other forces, particularly during the busy summer season; the establishment of a canine unit with six dogs under training in Torremolinos; to provide the Local Police with the resources they need to do their job effectively, including the employment of the maximum number of officers permitted by the law; the installation of security cameras.
He concluded by asking that officers be sympathetic to both residents and visitors, but where sanctions are required they should be enforced.
