Gladius Team Manilva has added another major achievement to its growing sporting record, following an outstanding performance at the World Cup BJJ 2026 in La Nucía, Alicante.
The international competition, held over the weekend of 27 and 28 June at the Pabellón Camilo Cano, brought together more than 1,800 competitors from 36 nationalities, competing in grappling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu categories.
Representing Gladius Team Manilva were Alexander Szlezer, Artur Tyka and José Manuel Gómez, under the guidance of coach Ernesto Romero. The Manilva club once again showed its quality on a major stage, with performances that underline the continued progress of grappling and jiu-jitsu in the municipality.
One of the standout results came from Alexander Szlezer, who was crowned world champion in grappling, a remarkable achievement for both the athlete and the club. His success places Manilva firmly on the international map in a discipline that demands strength, technique, discipline and mental focus.
The competition also saw strong results for fellow Gladius Team members Artur Tyka and José Manuel Gómez, taking gold in their respective categories, and both of whom continue to represent the club with distinction in national and international events.
For Gladius Team Manilva, the results are the product of years of work, training and commitment. Under Ernesto Romero’s leadership, the club has become one of the reference points for grappling, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and combat sports in the area, giving local athletes the opportunity to compete at increasingly high levels.
This latest success is also a proud moment for Manilva, demonstrating once again that local sport can achieve results far beyond the municipality. The achievements of Gladius Team Manilva reflect not only individual talent, but also teamwork, perseverance and the support of a club that continues to grow year after year.
Congratulations to Alexander Szlezer, Artur Tyka, José Manuel Gómez, Ernesto Romero and everyone at Gladius Team Manilva on another excellent achievement.
