Young fencers from the International Fencing Club “AndaluZía” enjoyed an outstanding weekend of success at the 2026 Andalucia Fencing Championships, bringing home a total of six medals from the competition held in La Cala de Mijas, Málaga.
The event formed part of the 12th edition of the Torneo Villa de Mijas, which also included the 2026 Andalucia Children’s Fencing Championships and the III “Sé Esgrima” Critérium for younger competitors.
Eleven young fencers represented Club AndaluZía, achieving a series of impressive results across several age categories. Among the standout performances was Natalia Kita, who claimed gold in the Under-13 girls’ competition. Leo Kent, Sebastian Ekdhal and Emilio Crambreleng also secured places among the top fencers in Andalucia in their category.
In the Under-11 category, silver medals were awarded to Isaac Mariscal, Noah and Larissa Tomanke, Victoria Sánchez and Clara Figuerola, while Maja Skowron finished as champion in the girls’ épée event.
Meanwhile, Luis Gutiérrez narrowly missed out on defending the title he won last year, finishing in fifth place just outside the medals. Despite this, he successfully qualified for the Andalucia Under-20 Championships, which will take place in Granada.
The club is now preparing for the upcoming Spanish National Championships in Segovia in June, with excitement growing among the young athletes and coaching team.
The results continue to highlight the excellent work being carried out by Club AndaluZía, which this year marks 19 years since its foundation. Special recognition was given to coach Javier Valdés, alongside Jake Blackwell, Fran Pérez and África Astolfi, as well as collaborators María Terekhina, León Cerrada and Rasa Ekdhal for their dedication and support throughout the competition.
