Vicky Sanchez

Manilva continues to make waves on the national sporting stage thanks to an outstanding performance from local athlete Vicky Sánchez, who has firmly established herself among Spain’s elite in stand-up paddle (SUP).

Representing the Manilva paddle surf club, Sánchez delivered an exceptional weekend at the Spanish Championships held in Barcelona, competing in the highly competitive Master category. Her standout result came in the sprint race, where she powered her way to a superb runner-up finish, earning the title of Vice-Champion of Spain.

But her success didn’t stop there. Demonstrating versatility across disciplines, Sánchez also secured a third-place finish in the technical race — a format that tests agility, balance and race tactics through buoy turns and varied conditions. She rounded off her campaign with a strong fourth place in the long-distance event, underlining her consistency and endurance across all aspects of the sport.

Stand-up paddleboarding has grown rapidly in Spain in recent years, evolving from a recreational beach activity into a serious competitive discipline with structured national circuits and championships. Events like the Barcelona meet attract top athletes from across the country, making Sánchez’s results all the more significant.

Her achievements not only highlight her personal dedication and talent, but also reflect the growing sporting culture in Manilva, where disciplines like paddle surf are gaining traction along the coastline.

With podium finishes across multiple race formats, Vicky Sánchez is no longer just a local success story — she is now one of the leading figures in Spanish paddle surf.
