San Pedro Rock will bring an afternoon and evening of live music to San Pedro Alcántara on Saturday 26 September. The free festival starts at 4 pm at El Palenque in the La Caridad fairground, with seven bands on a bill that pairs international acts with musicians from the local scene.
This year’s headliners are Dr. Feelgood and The Volcanics. Formed in England in the 1970s, Dr. Feelgood became one of the defining bands of British pub rock, building their reputation on sharp rhythm and blues and energetic live shows. Their live album Stupidity reached number one in the UK. The Volcanics come from Perth, Australia, and bring a faster, harder edged rock ’n’ roll sound to the lineup.
Five more acts complete the bill. The Rob Sas Band, led by guitarist Rob Sas, is familiar to Costa del Sol audiences for its classic rock performances. The Tragic Company is a local rock band with its own recorded material, including the albums Enigma of the Soul and Paradox, Vol. 1. Pantano describes itself as a rock band and has roots in the Málaga group El Alma. Crommy and Natura round out the local lineup, giving festivalgoers two more acts to discover on the day.
Now in its 22nd edition, San Pedro Rock remains a chance to see local bands share a stage with performers from further afield. El Palenque is covered, and the organisers have also expanded the children’s area. There will be bars and a market selling music related products. The programme is expected to continue until around midnight.
