Casares will once again become a meeting place for flamenco, traditional music and Andalusian culture when the IX Rosa Fina Festival takes place on Friday, 21 August, and Saturday, 22 August 2026.
The festival will bring together established performers and emerging artists for two free evenings of live entertainment in the historic centre of Casares. The opening night will celebrate the traditional music of Andalucía, while Saturday’s programme will focus on flamenco singing, guitar and dance.
Most of the performances will be held in Plaza Marcelino Camacho, in the El Llano area of Casares. The festival begins in Plaza de España on Friday evening, when the Raíces de Los Moras verdiales group will lead a musical procession through the village to the main festival venue.
Friday 21 August
9 pm Raíces de Los Moras
The festival begins in Plaza de España with the colourful sounds of the Raíces de Los Moras panda de verdiales from Almogía.
The musicians will perform as they make their way through the streets of Casares towards Plaza Marcelino Camacho, bringing this traditional form of Málaga folk music directly among the public.
10.30 pm Balateabajo
The programme continues in Plaza Marcelino Camacho with Balateabajo, an orchestra dedicated to preserving and reinterpreting the traditional music, songs and dances of La Alpujarra and eastern Andalucía.
Led musically by Miguel Hiroshi and inspired by the family legacy of Eduardo García Puga, the group combines traditional voices with contemporary sounds. Everyday rural objects, including bottles, mortars, spoons, bells and earthenware jugs, become musical instruments alongside electronic textures.
11.30 pm Raúl Rodríguez Trío
Friday evening concludes with the Raúl Rodríguez Trío.
Musician, singer and musical researcher Raúl Rodríguez is known for exploring the historic connections between Andalusian and Latin American music. He is also the creator of the tres flamenco, an instrument combining elements of the flamenco guitar and the Cuban tres.
He will be joined by Juanfe Pérez on bass and Jimmy González on drums.
Saturday 22 August
10.30 pm Al-Blanco and El Peli
Saturday’s flamenco evening opens in Plaza Marcelino Camacho with young Málaga singer Al-Blanco, accompanied on guitar by El Peli.
Considered one of the distinctive voices of flamenco’s new generation, Al-Blanco brings a contemporary approach to traditional singing and will present material from his first album.
11.20 pm Daniel Casares
Estepona-born guitarist Daniel Casares will then take to the stage for a flamenco guitar recital accompanied by Julián Bedmar “Juli” on second guitar.
Casares is recognised internationally for his technical skill, emotional performances and ability to move naturally between traditional flamenco and more contemporary musical influences.
Midnight Rafaela Carrasco
The IX Rosa Fina Festival will close with acclaimed flamenco dancer and choreographer Rafaela Carrasco.
Winner of Spain’s National Dance Award in 2023, Carrasco is one of the leading figures in contemporary flamenco dance. She will be accompanied by Miguel Ortega and Antonio Campos on vocals and Jesús Torres on guitar.
Free entry and a charitable cause
All performances and festival activities are free to attend.
The local organisation Mol Beh Taa will manage the festival bar, with the proceeds supporting the Blas Infante Nursery School in Douassu, Gambia.
With two nights of flamenco, verdiales, traditional folk music and cultural fusion in the spectacular setting of Casares, the Rosa Fina Festival promises to be one of the highlights of the village’s summer programme.
