A new exhibition by talented local artist Rodney Andrews opens this Friday, offering visitors the chance to enjoy a sneak peek at his latest work and discover a collection of original paintings throughout the month of July.
The exhibition will be open every Friday and Saturday during July, from 10 am to 2 pm, giving art lovers, residents and visitors the perfect opportunity to drop in, meet the work of a local artist and perhaps find a special piece to take home.
There is also an added incentive for buyers. If 30 paintings are sold during the exhibition, one lucky purchaser will win an original Rodney Andrews painting of their choice.
By buying a painting, visitors will not only be supporting a talented local artist, but also helping the wider community, as part of the proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to the St. George Charity in Sabinillas.

About the artist
Rodney Andrews, now in his eighties, has lived in Sabinillas for around 19 years. Many people may remember him for his remarkable sponsored walk from the Cudeca Hospice in Benalmádena to Sabinillas, which he completed as a gesture of thanks for the support he received during his cancer treatment.
The last time Rod had painted was at school, when he submitted a piece for his O Level art exam. His teacher’s reaction was so discouraging that he put down his brushes and did not paint again for more than 60 years.
Then, in 2024, not long after the death of his wife Jeanette, he woke up one morning with a sudden inspiration to start painting again.
His early works carried a strong religious message, reflecting the emotions he was experiencing at the time. Since then, his subjects have broadened considerably, covering, as he told me, “anything that came into my head”.
Today, painting gives Rod a renewed sense of purpose and helps motivate him to keep embracing life, despite the absence of his lifelong partner.
