Save summer music in Manilva

A petition has been launched calling on Manilva Town Hall to reverse a decision that campaigners say could seriously damage the municipality’s summer atmosphere and local economy.

The petition, titled “Save Summer Entertainment in Manilva”, was created after concerns were raised over new restrictions affecting live music and entertainment venues across the area.

According to organisers, the measures could impact bars, restaurants and beach venues that traditionally provide live music and performances during the busy summer season — something many residents and visitors consider part of the unique character of Manilva and the Costa del Sol lifestyle.

Supporters of the petition argue that summer entertainment plays an important role not only socially and culturally, but also economically. They say live music attracts visitors, helps local businesses survive the quieter winter months, and creates jobs for musicians, performers, hospitality staff and suppliers.

The petition warns that limiting entertainment could have wider consequences for tourism in the municipality at a time when nearby coastal towns continue to promote vibrant nightlife and cultural events.

Campaigners are calling for dialogue between the Town Hall, residents and business owners in order to find a balanced solution that protects both quality of life and the local economy.

Many businesses in Manilva rely heavily on the summer season, with live entertainment often forming a key part of their offer to tourists and residents alike. For many foreign residents and returning visitors, evenings with live music at beach bars, restaurants and plazas have long been part of what makes the area attractive and distinctive.

The petition has already begun circulating widely on social media, with supporters encouraging residents, business owners and visitors to add their names and share the campaign.

Those behind the initiative say the goal is not uncontrolled nightlife, but rather the preservation of responsible, well-managed entertainment that contributes to the municipality’s appeal and supports the local community.
